The Fox and the Sour Grapes

The Fox and the Sour Grapes

Moral of the Story: It’s easy to despise what you cannot have.

Once upon a time, in a lush green vineyard, there lived a clever fox named Raju. One sunny afternoon, Raju was feeling very hungry. His tummy was making loud grumbling sounds as he walked through the vineyard, looking for something to eat.

As he wandered, Raju’s eyes caught sight of some big, ripe bunches of grapes hanging from a vine above his head. The grapes looked so juicy and delicious that Raju’s mouth started watering. “Oh, those grapes look so tasty! I must have them,” he thought.

Raju craned his neck and tried to reach the grapes, but they were too high. He stretched his neck as far as he could, but it was no use. The grapes were still out of reach. Determined to get the grapes, Raju decided to jump. He jumped a little, but the grapes were still too high.

“Let me try harder,” Raju said to himself. He stood on his hind legs and stretched his front legs as high as he could. He jumped and jumped, trying to grab the grapes, but he couldn’t even touch them. “I am quite tall. I can do it,” Raju encouraged himself.

Raju kept jumping for a long time, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t reach the grapes. Finally, he was exhausted and very disappointed. He sat down, panting and feeling frustrated. “Who wants such sour grapes anyway? Not me!” Raju said proudly, trying to hide his disappointment.

With that, Raju walked away from the vineyard, pretending that he didn’t care about the grapes at all. But deep down, he knew he was just upset because he couldn’t get them.

And so, Raju learned a valuable lesson: It’s easy to despise what you cannot have. From that day on, he tried to be more honest with himself and not let his pride get in the way.
