The Cap Seller and the Monkeys

Moral of the Story: Wisdom is better than weapons of war.

Once upon a time, in a bustling town, there lived a cap seller named Ramu. Ramu made his living by selling colorful caps to the people in the town. One fine day, after making a few sales, Ramu felt very tired. He decided to take a rest under a big, shady tree.

Ramu sat down under the tree, leaned against its trunk, and soon fell fast asleep. Little did he know that the tree was home to many playful monkeys. The monkeys noticed Ramu sleeping peacefully with his bag of caps beside him.

“Hey friends, look at those wonderful caps!” one monkey exclaimed. The curious monkeys climbed down the tree, quietly opened Ramu’s bag, and took out the caps. They put the caps on their heads and climbed back up the tree, chattering happily.

After a while, Ramu woke up and was shocked to see his bag empty. “Where are my caps? Where are my caps?” he cried out in distress. To his surprise, he saw the monkeys sitting on the branches, each wearing one of his caps.

“Hey monkeys, give me back my caps!” Ramu shouted. But the monkeys just looked at him and didn’t move. Ramu thought hard about how to get his caps back. Suddenly, he had a clever idea.

Ramu took off his own cap and threw it up into the air. Seeing this, the monkeys, who loved to imitate, also threw their caps into the air. Then, Ramu threw his cap on the ground. The monkeys, copying him again, threw their caps down to the ground.

Ramu quickly collected all the caps, put them back into his bag, and walked away happily. He was relieved and proud of his cleverness.

And so, Ramu learned that wisdom is better than weapons of war. Sometimes, using your brain is the best way to solve a problem. From that day on, Ramu always kept an eye on his caps and never let the monkeys trick him again.
