The Kind Lady and the Mongoose

The Kind Lady and the Mongoose

Moral of the Story: Think carefully and don’t act in haste.

Once upon a time, there was a kind man named Dev Sharma who lived with his wife in a small town. One day, they had a baby boy, and they were very happy.

On the same day, a mommy mongoose had a baby mongoose near their house. Sadly, the mommy mongoose died, leaving the baby mongoose all alone.

Dev Sharma and his wife felt sorry for the little mongoose. They decided to take care of him like their own son. The kind lady fed both her baby and the little mongoose, bathed them together, and loved them both very much. The baby boy and the mongoose became best friends and played together all the time.

Even though the lady loved the mongoose, she was careful. She thought, “The mongoose is an animal and might hurt my baby someday. I must always watch them closely.”

One day, the lady needed to get some water from the well. She put her baby to bed and asked her husband to watch over them. She said, “Please look after our baby and make sure the mongoose doesn’t hurt him.”

But Dev Sharma was careless. He left the house without telling his wife, leaving the baby and the mongoose alone.

While they were alone, a dangerous snake slithered into the house and moved towards the baby. The brave mongoose saw the snake and knew he had to protect his friend. He fought the snake fiercely and killed it, but his mouth and claws were covered in the snake’s blood.

The mongoose was proud of what he had done and waited outside to show the lady how brave he was.

When the lady came back, she saw the mongoose covered in blood. She thought the mongoose had hurt her baby. Without thinking, she threw the heavy water pot at the mongoose, hurting him badly.

She ran inside and was relieved to see her baby safe and sound. Then she saw the dead snake near the baby’s bed and realized what had happened. The mongoose had saved her baby!

The lady felt very sad for hurting the brave mongoose who was like a son to her. When her husband came home, she told him everything, and they both felt very sorry.
