The Cost of Arrogance

The Cost of Arrogance

Moral of the story: A foolish person who doesn’t listen to good advice will get into trouble.

Once upon a time, there was a man named Ujjwalaka. He made carts, but he was very poor because no one needed new carts.

One day, Ujjwalaka felt very sad. He thought, “I am so poor. I don’t have a nice house, good clothes, or tasty food. I need to find a better place to live.”

So, Ujjwalaka took his family and left their town. As they walked through the jungle, they saw a mommy camel in pain. She was left behind by her group because she was about to have a baby.

Ujjwalaka gave the mommy camel water and grass. She felt better and soon had a baby camel. The next morning, Ujjwalaka took the mommy camel and her baby home. They were very happy in their new home.

The baby camel grew bigger, and Ujjwalaka tied a bell around its neck. He started selling the mommy camel’s milk, and it was enough to take care of his family. He didn’t need to make carts anymore.

One day, Ujjwalaka told his wife, “I can take care of our family by selling milk. I will borrow money to buy another camel. Please take care of the camels while I’m gone.”

His wife agreed, and Ujjwalaka went on his journey. He came back with a young camel. Over the years, he bought more camels and even hired a helper. He became rich and happy. His favorite camel was the one with the bell around its neck.

Every afternoon, the camels went to the jungle to eat grass and drink water from a big lake. They played and had fun, then came back home before sunset.

The young camel with the bell always walked slowly and stayed behind the others. The other camels told him to stay with the group, but he didn’t listen. He was proud because he was Ujjwalaka’s favorite.

One day, a lion heard the bell and saw the young camel alone. The lion waited for the right moment and then jumped on the young camel. The lion caught the young camel before he could call for help.
