The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Moral of the Story: Never lie. Once you are known as a liar, you will not be taken seriously.

Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a shepherd boy named Ravi. Every day, Ravi would take his flock of sheep up a hill to graze. He would sit under a tree, watching the sheep and making sure they were safe.

One day, Ravi felt very bored. He wanted to have some fun, so he thought of a mischievous plan. He climbed up a tree and shouted at the top of his lungs, “Help! Help! There’s a wolf! There’s a wolf!”

The farmers working in the fields below heard Ravi’s cries for help. They dropped their tools and ran up the hill to save him. “Where’s the wolf? Where is the wolf?” they cried, looking around frantically. But there was no wolf. Ravi laughed and laughed, thinking it was a great joke.

The farmers were not amused. They warned Ravi, “Don’t play such tricks. It’s not funny to lie about something so serious.” Then they walked back to their fields, shaking their heads.

But Ravi didn’t listen. He thought it was so much fun to trick the farmers that he decided to do it again the next day. Once more, he climbed the tree and shouted, “Help! Help! There’s a wolf! There’s a wolf!”

The farmers heard his cries and ran up the hill again. When they found no wolf, they were very angry. “If you ever do this again, we will not come to your rescue,” they warned Ravi sternly before walking away.

The next day, as Ravi was watching his sheep, a real wolf appeared. The wolf was big and scary, and it started chasing the sheep. Ravi was terrified. He climbed up the tree and shouted, “Help! Help! There’s a wolf! There’s a wolf!”

But this time, no one came. The farmers thought Ravi was playing another trick, so they ignored his cries. The wolf attacked the sheep one by one, and Ravi could do nothing but watch helplessly from the tree.

Ravi learned a hard lesson that day. Because he had lied before, no one believed him when he was telling the truth. He realized that never lying is important because once you are known as a liar, people will not take you seriously.

From that day on, Ravi promised himself that he would always tell the truth. He understood that honesty is the best policy and that trust is something you should never break.
